$100,000,000

Yes, that is One Hundred Million Dollars. It is a milestone York Educational FCU met August 3rd, and we hope you were a part of the excitement.

All summer members that borrowed from the credit union received chances to win $100 drawings during our $100 million contest. June’s winner of $100 was Alba Torres, and John Brooks won July’s prize.

The event culminated with the loan issued to Mr. Macon Tribue II on August 3rd. He is pictured on the left below, being congratulated by CU President Dave Baker.  Mr. Tribue also received a $100 prize.

During the two months and three days of the promotion, there were 143 loans granted for over $1,023,100. Thank you to all members who took advantage of our great rates. Although the contest is over, the loan rates are still excellent. Why not let us help you finance your next purchase?

Mark your calendar. Plan now to attend the great CU Community Extravaganza to be held Saturday, Sep-tember 17th from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

Five York area credit unions are banding together to give you an great opportunity to purchase a late model used car, expertly maintained and certified, at a price below NADA retail value, and at excellent loan rates. Plus, we’ll have prizes, free food and beverages, and games and activities for the children.

We encourage you to apply for preapproval, so you can shop knowing you are approved,    and you will receive a $100 Amex Fill It Up Gas Card and $100 Cloister Car Wash Gift Card if you purchase an Enterprise Car with your preapproval.

Not sure if you want to buy this way? Why not visit the CU Community Extravaganza? It is at White Rose CU, which is hosting the event, 3498 Industrial Highway, York, PA 17402. Bring your family. There will be Hot Dogs and Hamburgers from Enterprise, Bricker’s Fries and beverages from your credit union, and games and activities for your children. Child care will be provided if you find a vehicle and wish to close a deal on Saturday.

Expect to find coupes, sedans, convertibles, SUVs, and light trucks – mostly 2004 and 2005 models.  Enterprise provides a 12 year/12000 mile limited powertrain warranty, a 7-day repurchase agreement if you are not satisfied with your car, Enterprise Roadside Assistance, and they accept trade-ins.

York Educational FCU offers qualified members 3.99% APR for 36 months, 4.49% APR for 48, or 4.99% APR for 60 months, and will do 100% financing.

Curious about Enterprise’s inventory – visit their website at www.enterprise.com/carsales/ and enter your zip code.

By the end of this month you should find an abundance of new “surcharge free” ATM locations. York Educational  FCU  has  signed a contract with Allpoint Surcharge-free Network, which has over 30 ATMs in York County, 1500 ATMs in Pennsylvania, and 32,000 nationwide.  This service should be available to members by late September.

YEFCU continues to offer surcharge-free locations throughout York, and all of Pennsylvania, wherever you see the purple and white “CU$” logo. Also, the ATM at our office is surcharge-free. It will be replaced with a new machine before Thanksgiving.

ATM users, we ask for your patience just a little longer. You will see a dramatically improved and expanded ATM surcharge-free network before year-end.

YEFCU’s toll-free phone access to your account  information has a new phone number. Beginning August 21st, the TellerLine number is 1-800-388-8380. Please be sure to take note of the change on your TellerLine guide.  If you don't use Tellerline, why not stop by our office and sign up today for this convenient service?

Help your children learn about financial matters and have fun doing it, with  GOOGOLPLEX, the Credit Union guide for student moneymakers, an age-specific addition to our website for youth to visit and enjoy.

Just go to our website, www.yefcu.org, then select the “Just for Kids” book along the left.  Have your child choose “C-Note University,” “A.J.’s Mall,” or “5-Spot Clubhouse,” depending upon their age, and let them have fun learning about savings, and using money wisely. Best of all, this service is free to members, created by Credit Union National Association, and updated frequently.

Community Progress Council, Inc. and YEFCU invite you  on  Thursday,
September 22, 2005 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm to an "Introduction to York $

In Your Pocket" at the United Way of York County, 800 E. King St., York.  You will see how you can learn and help at the same time.

York $ In Your Pocket, a coalition of credit unions and agencies in York county, is seeking volunteers for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. VITA is promoted by the IRS Stakeholder Partnership, Education and Communication office in partnership with the community to provide free tax preparation and financial literacy to low-to-moderate income individuals who normally go to tax preparation companies that charge far too much for their services.

The initial computerized training is a bit of a chal-lenge, however the end result is a certificate from the IRS and a working knowledge of basic tax forms, credits, and laws. It is an opportunity to learn a life skill that every American should be taught in high school. Our hope is to have VITA volunteers manning several sites in the county. Days and hours will be flexible.  For more info, plan to attend this event, or call Susan Hazlitt at CPC, 846-4600, ext 295, or e-mail to shazlitt@yorkcpc.org.

Beware of persons fraudulently seeking information about your account by "phishing" for  replies  from you with a website that looks just like your credit union’s or other financial

institution's website.  Do not reply to e-mails that appear to be sent from a financial institution, even if it is familiar to you, if the message has a sense of urgency and seeks personal data.  Financial institutions do not use e-mail when secured information is needed.

YEFCU has not had any members “phished” for data or account numbers to date.  We simply want you to be alert and cautious about e-mail that comes from any financial entity and asks for your name, address, social security number, and/or account number.
