York County Credit Unions are collecting Teddy Bears for children affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. We are supporting YTW Community Federal Credit Union, originator of this idea to express the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.” Most attention has been focused on assistance to adults, which they rightly deserve. But our hearts go out to the children as the Holiday Season approaches. We want to gather Teddy Bears for as many children as possible. YTW FCU has a tractor trailer and driver lined up to deliver them to the children, but we need your help. Please donate a new or slightly used Teddy Bear. You may bring your donations to our CU office any time until December 2nd. Staff will deliver all bears to the driver on Saturday, December 3rd for delivery to the hurricane affected areas.
YEFCU would like to make your Holiday Season bright, and help you fill the Season with joy and happiness for everyone you know and love. This Christmas and New Years holidays seem to have come upon us so quickly that we’re all scratching our heads and wondering “What to buy? What to give?” Here are a few suggestions from your credit union. One idea, although far from original, is cash – always a winner, since there is never a problem with color, size, or need to exchange. If you are giving cash, we have a great selection of Christmas and Holiday currency envelopes. Members are entitled to five free envelopes, and more may be purchased for only 50 cents each. Another idea, new this year, is a VISA Gift Card. You may purchase Gift Cards for any dollar amount from $25 to $2,999. They can be used by the recipient to make purchases anywhere VISA is accepted. For the Holidays the price has been reduced to only $2.99 per gift card. Get yours today!
As has been tradition for years now, your credit union has desk calendars or pocket planner calendars for 2006 available free to members. You may choose either type of calendar, and may pick yours up beginning December 1st. Quantities are limited, so stop by early. A 2006 wallet calendar should accompany this newsletter.
The ATM at the CU office will be replaced between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We will not miss the old, unreliable relic, which was leased. It will be replaced by a new Diebold Opteva 500 ATM with all the latest features. The new ATM will be owned by the CU, and will provide members with fast, reliable service. There may be a few days between removal of the old ATM and installation and programming of the new one. If you should need cash while the ATM at our office is out of service, the two closest surcharge-free ATMs are at the First Capital FCU branch, 951 S. Queen St, or the ATM in the Giant Food Store, 275 Pauline Dr, near VoTech. Please use one of these ATMs until we get our new one up and running. As announced in last month’s $avings $ense, there are
you with the above logo that will not surcharge when you make a cash withdrawal. To find locations for Allpoint ATMs, visit our website, www.yefcu.org, click on the Allpoint logo, then enter your city and state or your zip code, and a list of the 30 ATMs nearest you will show on your monitor. Some familiar locations include the Target stores in East York and West York, most Giant Food stores, Sunoco and Hess Gas Stations. If you plan to travel, visit our website, enter the city you are visiting and learn the location of Allpoint ATMs nearby. There are surcharge-free Allpoint ATMs in all 50 states. Remember that YEFCU remains a member of the CU$ network of ATMs. CU$ provides you surcharge-free access to your funds at over 700 ATMs through-out Pennsylvania and thirteen other states. WIN A $100 or $50 VISA Cash Passport Card! To encourage you to seek out these many new ATM locations and use them, we are having a drawing for two VISA Cash Passport Cards. To enter, simply use your YEFCU VISA Debit Card at one of the Allpoint or CU$ sites, then bring your receipt into the CU office. We’ll enter your name in the drawing for each usage. Drawing will be held December 30, 2005. Enjoy the convenience of more surcharge-free ATMs than Bank of America offers, and enter to win a Cash Passport, with your YEFCU VISA Debit Card.
Come see the great pictures hanging in our lobby submitted by our young members. Three age groups will compete for gift cards to local stores, and each child entering the contest and delivering their handiwork to the CU will receive a gold dollar for their efforts. If your child is not a member, open an account today, and let him enter the contest too.
