About the Credit Union

York Educational Federal Credit Union (YEFCU) is a non-profit financial organization owned and operated by its members for the benefit of all who belong.

YEFCU was organized and founded in April of 1969. It is owned, supervised and managed through YEFCU members under a Federal Charter granted by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the U.S. Government.

When you become a member of the Credit Union, you actually become one of the owners. Every year at the Annual Meeting you elect members to the Board of Directors, which sets all Credit Union policy and procedures. The Supervisory Committee is also appointed annually from the membership to regularly examine the Credit Union operations and insure compliance will all Federal laws and regulations.

The National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund insures all our members’ share accounts up to $250,000 per account. Our member can rest assured that their money is safe with us.

NCUSIF Self-Directed Retirement Account Insurance

This account category includes IRAs and Keogh accounts. These accounts are insured separately from non-retirement funds, with each type insured up to $250,000. Funds in traditional IRAs and Roth IRAs are added together and insured in the aggregated to $250,000. For deposit insurance purposes, the Coverdell Education Saving Account is not considered an IRA, but is treated as an irrevocable trust account. Thus, your Coverdell funds will be added with any irrevocable trust account funds and insured separately up to 100,000.
